After the success of the 3500GT coupé, Maserati approached Touring, Vignale and Frua and asked them to offer a convertible (spider) version in 1959.

The versions of Touring and Frua were not retained and it is the prototype of Vignale which will become, after some modifications, the model of series.

The Frua 2+2 spider is a rather successful exercise in style: the car is elegant, very slender and presented in an ecru dress and a turquoise and white interior with the most beautiful effect!
